I had never touched a guitar until, by chance, I
heard the legendary flamenco guitarist Paco De Lucia
on the radio and this affected me profoundly. Then I
said to myself: "I have to play this instrument."
During my years in Adana, a city in Southern Turkey,
I was a technical instructor in a high school, I began
to sudy the classical guitar by myself. Over that long
period, I discovered that the classical guitar is a
highly demanding instrument for professional aims and
it was very clear that being an amateur guitarist alongside
my professional career was the natural situation.
Due to my having a technical background a second dimension
has begun related to the guitar, whereby I was repairing
my friends' guitars, with the encouragements and insistences
of my very close friend from Adana, Utku OZKANOGLU,
a gifted classical guitarist, who persuaded me to try
my hand at building classical guitar.
In 1994, I moved to Istanbul and began to work for
Renault as technical instructor. During the end of the
90's, I turned one of my rooms in my flat into a workshop
and started building classical guitars.
Although, I still study classical guitar, my overwhelming
passion is the building of high quality classical guitars
and as "Ashik" Veysel said : "I'm on
a long and narrow path" for this aim.
